Communicating Our Beliefs

I forgot to post. I want to make it a daily habit to blog the days I assigned myself to do so. Sorry about that, by the way. Some interesting things happened today and yesterday. One, I got my hair cut in a short chin-length bob that makes me look older-in a good way older, not a bad way. And two, I got in touch with an old friend who I used to live by on Facebook. We've been texting (yes, and flirting) back and forth since last night.

I love the internet. I'm sure many of you do too. But really, it's very useful. Communication is great now. You can use Myspace, Facebook or any other social media to contact people who otherwise you might not be able to. You can listen to music, get new music and all sorts of things. I truly am glad to be in this century where we have such tools of communication.

Today my best friend invited some Mormons to come over and discuss their religion with us. As you might remember I study the way of Paganisim and Wicca, but I love hearing about other religions and their views on what the "higher power" is. It's very interesting, Mormonisim and we have a lot of the same beliefs. They believe in reincarnation but they don't call it that. It's transcending in a way to the next level and still having your same soul. We had a very good chat, I learned a lot.

A few years ago I never would have listened. I would have been anti any other religion but my own. Now I think and feel how others would feel if I behaved that way. I mean, if they wouldn't listen to me and why I believe the way I do I'd be hurt, and I'm sure they would be hurt as well. They even gave me a Bible and asked if they could assign me a section to read. They are coming back next Friday for a more in depth conversation, and I look forward to it. I think as long as I keep my own believes learning about someone else's wouldn't be too bad.

As for my texting buddy, I'm thinking it might go where I want it to go. We're both single at the moment and although it's too early in the game to think about this it's a nice, warm feeling. Besides his cousin (who was my very first best friend) wanted to hook us up before...so you never know. It could happen.

Once I take some better pictures of my new hair, I'll post them. I think I'll start leaving my blogs with questions again. It's a good way to get to know everyone, too.

-What are your views on religion, or what do you believe in?
-Have you ever got a horrible hair cut, and what did you do to fix it?

  2. Hehe, maybe! And you still have enough time to go through your novel after November is over to edit and stuff. It's not like you have to stop working right there and then. :)

If you still haven't found the latest episode online, try http://sidereel.com they have it up by now for sure. :)

The internet sure is one of the greatest (in my opinion) inventions ever made. It helps us to connect with people all over the earth & stuff. And with blogs all over the internet you can get to know people you might've never met in the first place.

I'm really happy to hear that you're enjoying your texting with that guy you just re-connected with! :) I hope it goes in the direction you want it to go to.

I don't really believe in any kind of god or a higher power - or at least not right now. I haven't really experienced something that would prove me that there is something else out there - something bigger, something that we can't touch or reach. Maybe that's due to the fact that I haven't really looked into any kind of religion deep enough to find that "something". I don't know.

But I definitely think that it's awesome that you keep an open mind & are willing to learn about other religions too. I really admire that character trait in a person because I am the same way. Just because I don't believe doesn't mean that others shouldn't.

If I look back at old pictures of myself I've to say that I definitely had some terrible haircuts - but back then they never seemed so terrible so I didn't really do anything about them.

  3. Ohhhh I remember you, you went by a different name. ;)

I think communication is amazing these days. Heck, I'm studying communication in information/media! There is a lot out there in terms of technology and ways of keeping in touch. As for me though, I don't have Facebook. I have Twitter, and that's the only social networking website I use a lot. I have websites which keep me busy enough! I also feel blessed to be in this century where we have something as awesome as the internet.

I'm a Catholic but I am really on the border because I don't have much faith and don't believe very strongly in it either. :/ I was brought up this way but my views sort of changed.

I definitely respect other people's religions. I know they're different, but I don't discriminate or anything like that. I know people have their own beliefs so I don't think it's right to shoot them down or be nasty in any way. I wouldn't want someone to do it to me.

My book's pretty boring; it's about this young woman who moves into a new town after losing part of her memory. She has a son. She meets this guy in the new town and what she doesn't know is that he's her husband and the father of her child. She doesn't remember anything about him. :)
